Any registered producer, cooperative, mill, or exporter can sell coffee directly to roasters through Algrano. By creating an account, you can offer your coffees to buyers you already work with — or to interested new roasters. You’ll be able to send them a landed price offer, importer-style, so they know exactly what they’re paying.
Why landed price instead of FOB? Simple: buyers see how all costs add up and decide if the coffee fits their budget quickly.
What you need before you start
The platform is more accessible than ever. But to register and create offers, you need to meet some basic criteria. Don’t worry — it’s not about whether you sell Washed or Natural, Arabica or Robusta, certified or not. If there’s a buyer, we can ship any quality.
Here’s what we do look for:

Type of business
Algrano works with independent, origin-based businesses that produce coffee or buy it directly from farmers. That includes:
- Single farms
- Groups of farms
- Associations or cooperatives
- Washing stations and mills
- Commercial reps and exporters
If you’re purely a trader we do apologise, but you got the wrong platform.
Export license
You don’t necessarily need one — in many countries, we partner with exporters who can ship for you.
If you’re shipping small volumes, you can ship as long as it's a country where we have partners and there's a shared shipment available — expect to share a container with other sellers. That means working on the consolidation schedule and staying in touch with the exporter overseeing logistics.
If you’re in a country where we don’t yet have partners, you will need an export license. You also won’t be able to share the container with anyone else, so you need to ship 100+ bags.
Countries where you don’t need an export license: Brazil, Colombia, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, India, Philippines.
Legal business registration
This is a non-negotiable step. We need to know you’re a real business, not just a WhatsApp number. Upload your business registration number and documents.
We’ll accept documents such as:
- Certificate of registration (for cooperatives)
- Certificate of incorporation (for private companies)
- Export licenses
Examples:
- Brazil: Cadastro do Produtor Rural (CAF)
- Uganda: URSB Certificate
- Colombia: Registro Mercantil
- Guatemala: Patente de Comercio
Ready? Great. Now comes the fun part
Meeting the criteria is one thing. Being a successful seller is a different game. Here’s what sets the best sellers apart:

Roaster relationships
Got roaster contacts? Great — you can send them private offers directly. If you have no contacts yet, you won’t get much out of Algrano until you build some. You can do it online or in person, at trade shows, origin trips…
And remember: we only import into Europe (including the UK), the US and Canada. Got buyers elsewhere? Talk to us first — we can ship CIF and might be able to help there too.
If you need help finding buyers you can apply to be a Verified Seller and list public offers on the marketplace. Find out more about it here.
Someone behind the screen
Algrano makes it easy to manage inventory and sales, but someone on your team needs to actually log in, answer messages, and confirm contracts.
Being proactive — with both roasters and the exporters coordinating the container — is one of the top traits of successful coffee sellers. English isn’t mandatory (we translate), but being responsive is.
If you’re shipping small volumes as part of a consolidated container, stay close. We’ll always share the stuffing location and timelines — but keep in mind that other contracts might still be added to the container after your sale is confirmed. If anything’s unclear, let us know.

A profile you’re proud of
If you’re pitching new buyers, your public profile on Algrano matters. A lot. It gives you credibility and it’s where buyers go to find the information they need.
- Use a sharp close-up (logo or face) for your profile pic and a clean, high-res cover photo.
- In “Unique Selling Proposition,” write what really matters to you — beyond “quality coffee.”
- Show the people behind the coffee. Skip the polished shots of perfect red cherries. Show your team, your farm, your day to day.

Correct pricing
We don’t set your price. But you should:
- Include exporter fees and consolidation costs in your FOB quote.
- Check algrano.com/en/coffees to see how similar coffees are priced — it’s not exact science, but it gives you an idea of how much other producers are asking.
- Talk to the exporter early so you’re not caught off guard by logistics fees (for consolidations).
Shared shipments include a small consolidation fee, so Algrano can manage everyone in the container and keep things sane. This is automatically calculated when you set the price of your private offer.
If you’re speaking to buyers on e-mail or WhatsApp, draft an offer (and don’t send it) to see how much this will be before giving them a price idea.
If you’re selling 100+ bags in a dedicated container, this fee won’t be deducted from your sale. If you’re selling 100+ bags in a shared container, this fee will be deducted.
Market-specific stuff
Depending on where your buyer is, you might need extra paperwork:
- 🇺🇸 US: If you’re the exporter, you’ll need an FDA registration number.
- 🇪🇺 Europe: Geocoordinates of all plots where the coffee was grown — for EUDR compliance. We’ll check your data before submitting it to Enveritas. We won’t ship your coffee without this.
All this to say…
If you’ve got coffee to sell, buyers lined up (or in sight), and you’re running a legit operation — Algrano gives you the tools to act like your own importer and keep control of your relationships.
