Producers who sell on Algrano's marketplace go through a verification process with our Sourcing Team. We calibrate with producers on quality, and publish the scores from our QC lab, and by producers on each coffee listing, so you can have a high degree of confidence.

Our marketplace allows you to find producers based on Seller Properties such as ‘Relationship-driven’, ‘Female Producer’ or ‘Smallholder’ which may help with values alignment. 
And importantly - start talking. Message producers directly through Algrano’s Marketplace and see who you build a good rapport with!

We enable you to buy directly from a producer you’ve never met before, and receive the coffee to your roastery, taking care of everything in between.

In our Discovery to Delivery service, we play the role of matchmaker, helping you discover coffees that meet your needs, from producers who match your values. To make this happen, we coordinate work with Verified Sellers, independently evaluate each lot they list on the marketplace, and distribute coffee samples on their behalf.

All the contracting is taken care of when you place an order online, and we work with the producer to make sure the coffee you ordered gets into the container and onto the ship. We provide Quality Assurance and evaluate the pre shipment sample and the landed sample so the coffee arrives at your roastery with the same characteristics that made you choose it.

We take care of all the paperwork - from export to import, declarations to certifications and everything in between.

Algrano is responsible for any quality risk, so if for any reason there is a quality issue, the liability sits with Algrano, not the roaster, and overcomes a concern that many roasters have when considering direct trade for the first time.

Most roasters choose to use our Financing service, but it's completely optional. Warehousing and Delivery are also completely flexible according to your needs.

The total cost will be the FOB cost of the coffee plus shipping and logistics costs and a small fee that Algrano charges for our service.

All this is transparently shown on the marketplace when you add a coffee to your cart. 

Financing, warehousing and delivery costs are variable, based on your need and usage. There’s a tool in the checkout process you can use to get precise estimates. 

Coffees are listed by producers on Algrano as soon as samples are available at Algrano’s QC lab. There is usually a buying window of 4-6 weeks, for roasters to order samples and confirm their choices.

After the buying window closes the coffee orders are consolidated into a container and exported destined for warehouses in Europe or USA. Exact shipping times will vary a little, but the coffee is typically available for roasters around 4 months after the order deadline. 

On Algrano, you will receive notifications to update you on expected arrival times, and you can follow the progress in your Algrano account.

Because of the long term nature of relationships with producers selling on Algrano, and our own robust QC processes, quality issues are extremely rare. Over 99% or contracts have no issues at all.

It should also be said that we experience defaults from roasters more frequently than producers.

That said, buying through Algrano’s Discovery to Delivery service means we are responsible for quality assurance and risk management - so any liability for coffee quality issues sits with Algrano, not the roaster.
