Marketplace & Producer Success Manager

Remote Latam

About

At Algrano, a tech-focused coffee startup from Switzerland, we are on a mission to reshape the global coffee trade. We are driven by an ambitious goal: to revolutionize the age-old coffee trade industry, making it both transparent and digital.

‍Via Algrano's online marketplace, coffee farmers can effortlessly promote and sell their coffees directly to roasters in Europe and the USA. Algrano provides the online (marketplace) and offline infrastructure (logistics, insurance, financing).

Honored with the Best Innovation award by the European Coffee Industry Association in 2015 for our launch and again in 2022 for our achievements, we currently serve over 1,000 sellers and roasters in more than 50 countries. With the support of a robust investor network, our vision is to become the premier platform for direct coffee trading globally.

The role

As Marketplace & Producer Success Manager LATAM, you’ll play a key role in our growing Sourcing & Origination Team, where you’ll work together with Vanessa, Addisu, Thais, Juan and Gio. Here we coordinate everything origin-related, from producer onboarding down to shipment execution.

Algrano’s marketplace is the key tool producers have to offer their coffee lots publicly to over 1000 registered roasters around the globe. You’ll guide producers across Latin America to be successful in the marketplace, by building appealing portfolios and helping them manage their new direct relationships to last for years!

You’ll also oversee our yearly inventory planning across all regions, working together with Addisu, our Producer Success Manager for Africa & Asia, and therefore you should have a good grasp of coffee qualities. You’ll also work closely with our platform support team, coordinating inventory execution.

Your main tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Yearly planning:  You’ll align historical data and marketplace demand to make data-driven decisions and plan Algrano’s portfolio of coffees and producers while ensuring diversity, competitiveness across all regions, taking into account our rapid growth.
  • Onboarding: You’ll identify and train new LATAM producers, helping them understand the value of Algrano and becoming autonomous users of the platform.
  • KPI: You’ll be responsible for targets such as retention of sellers, seller autonomy and  inventory liquidity.
  • Offer management: You’ll guide producers in managing their offers, samples and profiles to maximize their success.
  • Contract management: You’ll coordinate contract execution and align with our origin logistics team in shipment execution.
  • Market access services: You’ll identify the needs of each origin organization and present Algrano’s different solutions to producers. We’re not only a marketplace!
  • Drive Automation: Provide insights to help improve Algrano’s contract execution tools—goodbye manual tasks, hello smart workflows!

Your profile

You have worked in the coffee industry before, and knowing its challenges, you are curious to understand the producer’s perspective and together build a path towards real direct trade.

You have the ability to work independently, but can also coordinate deadlines with several colleagues in a dynamic environment. You enjoy looking at data and creating a structured environment  for yourself and others.  You are commercially driven, while equally deeply believing in Algrano’s mission and want to grow in a company that’s purpose driven.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree—or equivalent hands-on experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in the green coffee industry, preferably in trade or trade administration.
  • You can confidently handle different contract terms, Incoterms, price fixations and hedging.
  • You have proven experience in coffee trading: you understand processing and quality, at least on a regional level.
  • You have proven experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker and you’re eager to develop and deepen your expertise in this area.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • You have proven experience in remote work
  • You are able and willing to travel

Bonus points for:

  • Knowledge of certification processes (Organic, Fairtrade, RFA, Demeter)

We are a fully remote team, based in Brazil, Ethiopia, Spain and Germany, but we do get together a few times a year in Zurich or in coffee events representing Algrano around the world.
